Steak & Dumplings
This is my mom’s recipe that she made often when I was growing up. Simple and tasty.
I have tried other dumping recipes, including Bisquick, but I always come back to this one.
Steak & Dumplings
- 1-1/2 lbs steak, sliced thin (1/8″ thick)
- 1-1/2 cups flour
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
- 2/3 cup milk
Season meat with salt & pepper, and fry in oil until well browned. While meat is frying, blend remaining ingredients to form a wet but firm dough. Add enough water to barely cover the steak, and drop dumplings by spoonfuls onto meat. Cover tightly and cook for approximately 15 minutes, or until dumplings are done.
